Vehicle Rental Terms & Conditions.

The full terms that apply to every DVS Commercials vehicle rental. A plain-English summary of the key points is set out in our hire agreement and FAQs.

Important information

These terms (Terms), together with the Rental Agreement signed by you (Form) and, where appropriate, the letter signed by you regarding Long Term Rentals (Letter), form the contract between you and DVS Commercials Ltd.

If you have reserved a vehicle for rental online, by telephone or before the first day of the rental period, DVS's only obligation prior to completion of the rental documentation is to keep the vehicle available for you for collection on the first day of the rental period.

Any remaining obligations of DVS concerning the vehicle and its rental by you only take effect upon you completing and signing the Form and, where appropriate, the Letter prior to collection of the vehicle.

You also have the right to cancel in accordance with the cancellation policy set out below and, where applicable, displayed on our website.

If a customer is unable to comply with these Terms, particularly those concerning driver age, payment, driving licence entitlement or history, identification requirements and payment terms, at the time of collecting the vehicle, our cancellation policy will apply.

Part 1 — General terms

1. Collecting the vehicle

When collecting a hire vehicle, customers must produce the documents specified in these Terms.

2. Pre-rental inspection

Customers will be provided with a pre-rental inspection report, which may be provided in paper or digital format. The report will detail scratches, dents and other damage already present on the vehicle before the rental begins.

You must inspect the vehicle carefully before accepting it and notify DVS of any damage which has not already been recorded on the inspection report.

Subject to these Terms and any applicable insurance or damage protection, customers may be liable for the reasonable cost of repairing new damage discovered when the vehicle is returned.

3. Returning the vehicle

All vehicles remain on hire until they have been inspected, checked and signed in by a member of DVS staff. Any new damage found on the vehicle may be the responsibility of the renter in accordance with these Terms.

You may return the vehicle outside office hours by leaving it at the DVS premises or other return location specified by DVS, off the public highway and in the parking spaces or location indicated by us.

If you return the vehicle outside office hours, you agree that the rental period and your obligations under this contract will continue until the vehicle has been inspected, checked and formally signed in by DVS after the office reopens and a member of staff is available to complete the check-in process. Out-of-hours returns are therefore made at the hirer's risk.

4. Cancellation policy

Cancellations must be received in writing or by email at hire@dvsmotorgroup.co.uk.

Unless otherwise stated in your booking, the following cancellation policy applies:

Cancellation made Refund
More than 72 hours before rental commencementFull refund
Between 48 and 72 hours before rental commencement50% of the rental fee
Less than 48 hours before rental commencementNo refund

If a customer fails to notify DVS of a cancellation and/or fails to collect the vehicle on the agreed date and at the agreed time, no refund will be provided.

Account customers

Cancellations must be received in writing or by email at hire@dvsmotorgroup.co.uk. For cancellations received less than 24 hours before the agreed collection or delivery time, a charge equivalent to the first day's rental will apply.

5. Eligibility of renter and/or driver

Drivers must:

  • hold a valid driving licence with the correct category entitlement;
  • have held the appropriate full driving licence for at least 2 years.

Age requirements

  • Drivers must normally be aged between 23 and 75 years.
  • A minimum age of 25 years applies to certain vehicles.
  • Drivers aged 23 to 24 years may be permitted to drive, subject to an increased insurance excess.
  • Drivers aged 70 to 75 years may be permitted to drive, subject to an increased insurance excess.
  • All drivers remain subject to DVS's insurance requirements and approval.

A valid driving licence must be produced for every person who intends to drive the vehicle.

Exclusions

Unless otherwise expressly agreed by DVS and permitted by DVS's insurer, the following persons or uses may not be covered under DVS's insurance arrangements:

  • Persons involved in two or more accidents during the preceding three years.
  • Persons involved in an accident during the preceding three years where the cost exceeded £5,000, unless referred to and accepted by DVS or its insurer.
  • Drivers with more than two theft claims during the preceding three years.
  • Drivers with convictions or endorsements which fall outside DVS's insurer's acceptance criteria.
  • Couriers; provisional licence holders; drivers who have held a full driving licence for less than 24 months for the class of vehicle being hired; drivers aged 22 or under; drivers aged 24 or under where the vehicle has seating capacity for eight or more passengers in addition to the driver's seat, or where the vehicle is a campervan; scrap merchants, vehicle dismantlers or breakers; professional gamblers, other than clerical workers; professional sportspeople; persons working in entertainment professions, including on a part-time basis; members of the armed forces of non-UK countries; students, other than where permitted for private cars; unemployed persons.

This includes, where applicable, the following conviction codes: AC10-30, BA10-60, XX99, TT99, NE99, CD40-90, IN10, LC30-50, MS40-90, UT10-50, MR09-59, MT50, DD10-90, DR10-90 and DG10-90.

  • Drivers who have been disqualified for more than six months during the previous three years, or for more than three months during the previous year, must be referred to DVS before rental.
  • Persons who have had an insurance policy cancelled, a proposal declined or renewal refused by an insurer must also be referred to DVS.
  • No person may drive the vehicle unless that person has been disclosed on the appropriate DVS Self-Drive Hire Proposal Form and/or Additional Driver Form and has been authorised by DVS.

6. Licence categories

It is the renter's responsibility to ensure that they have the appropriate driving licence entitlement for the vehicle booked. If you are unsure which licence category is required, contact DVS for advice before making the booking.

7. Required documents

When renting and/or collecting the vehicle, the following documents must be produced where applicable:

  • A valid driving licence, including any applicable separate paper licence.
  • A National Insurance number or a valid DVLA "Share Driving Licence" check code where required.
  • Two official documents to confirm the customer's home address dated within the previous three months. Examples can include utility bills and bank statements.
  • A credit or debit card from which the applicable deposit can be taken or pre-authorised. The deposit payment needs to be PIN authorised, so Apple Pay, Google Pay and similar cannot be used for deposit payments.

The payment card must be in the name of the main hirer. The standard deposit is £100 or £250 depending on vehicle category. For non-UK driving licence holders, the standard deposit is £750.

Acceptable forms of identification

Subject to DVS approval, acceptable identification may include: credit or debit card; passport; Post Office or Building Society savings book; current utility bill, excluding mobile-phone bills, addressed to your home address; personal cheque book; current rent book; hire-purchase agreement; life assurance policy.

DVS may request additional identification where reasonably required to verify the identity or address of the renter.

8. Vehicle excess

The standard insurance excess is £1,500 per incident. An excess of £2,000 may apply to certain vehicles and/or non-UK licence holders.

The cost of repairing damage above the height of the top of the windscreen is payable by the hirer in full and is not covered unless expressly stated otherwise.

Damage or personal injury caused by the negligence of the hirer may not be covered by DVS's insurance or damage protection arrangements. Where cover does not apply, repair costs and/or liability claims may be passed to the hirer in full. For these purposes, negligence may include, but is not limited to:

  • driving through flood water;
  • driving off the public highway or on unsuitable roads;
  • racing;
  • driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
  • failing properly to secure a load; or
  • allowing the vehicle to be driven by an unauthorised driver.

9. Excess reduction products

Excess Reduction is not insurance. It is an optional service which, where purchased and applicable, limits your financial responsibility for qualifying damage to a DVS vehicle.

The charge is £15 per day including VAT. Where Excess Reduction applies, the standard excess is reduced from £2,000 or £1,500 to £300 per incident.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, Excess Reduction does not cover:

  • glass, including windscreens;
  • tyre damage including punctures;
  • damage above windscreen height;
  • damage caused while the vehicle is off the public highway;
  • theft of the vehicle;
  • vandalism;
  • malicious acts;
  • damage resulting from negligence, including racing, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving through flood water or carrying unsecured loads; or
  • circumstances where these Terms or the rental agreement have been breached.

10. Mileage allowances

Rentals are subject to a standard mileage allowance of 250 miles for the first 2 days and then 100 miles per day thereafter, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Excess mileage is charged at £0.15 plus VAT per mile.

If a vehicle is returned before the expiry of the agreed rental period, the mileage allowance will be calculated on a pro-rata basis and excess mileage charged accordingly.

Any additional mileage purchased before rental commencement is non-refundable unless DVS expressly agrees otherwise.

11. Vehicles and images

Vehicle images displayed on DVS's website, advertising or booking systems are examples only. Unless DVS expressly confirms otherwise in writing, DVS cannot guarantee a particular vehicle make, model, colour or specification. DVS may provide an equivalent or suitable alternative vehicle.

12. Price

Unless otherwise stated, hire prices include:

  • applicable motor insurance, subject to the renter's liability and applicable exclusions;
  • VAT;
  • breakdown cover for UK use, subject to these Terms; and
  • the applicable mileage allowance.

Where a rental is made using the customer's own insurance, different terms may apply.

13. Fuel policy

Vehicles are supplied on a like-for-like basis, meaning the vehicle should be returned with the same level of fuel as supplied. Any vehicle returned without the same level of fuel will be charged the current fuel price stated and will incur a refuelling fee of £15 including VAT.

14. Overseas use

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, quoted prices are for use within mainland UK only. A vehicle must not be taken or used outside mainland UK without DVS's prior written consent. Additional charges, insurance requirements and mileage restrictions may apply.

You must contact DVS before booking if you intend to take a vehicle outside mainland UK. Non-UK licence holders may not take a DVS vehicle outside the UK unless expressly agreed by DVS in writing and permitted under the applicable insurance arrangements.

15. Late return

A vehicle is considered late if it is returned more than 1 hour after the agreed rental end time, unless an extension has been agreed by DVS. Late rentals may be charged at DVS's applicable standard daily tariff.

16. Additional drivers

Additional drivers are charged at £6 / day each including VAT, unless a different amount is stated on the rental agreement.

All additional drivers must be approved by DVS and complete the required additional-driver documentation before driving the vehicle. DVS may require additional drivers to be present at the beginning of the rental.

17. Payments

Payment must be made using a payment method accepted by DVS. Accepted payment methods are:

  • Visa credit cards;
  • Mastercard credit cards; and
  • qualifying UK-issued debit cards.

Unless DVS expressly agrees otherwise, DVS Van Hire does not accept:

  • cash;
  • cheques;
  • prepaid payment cards; or
  • American Express.

Cash cannot be accepted, for insurance purposes.

The credit or debit card presented at the beginning of the hire must be in the name of the main hirer. The full rental cost must be paid before the vehicle is released.

In addition, a deposit of £100 or £250, or £750 for non-UK licence holders, will normally be pre-authorised or taken on the credit or debit card. A pre-authorisation may remain against the card for up to 30 days or such other period determined by the card-issuing bank. Normally funds are available again within a few working days.

18. Traffic and parking offences

The hirer is responsible for parking charges, congestion charges, tolls, traffic penalties and other charges or offences arising from use of the vehicle during the rental period.

DVS may charge an administration fee of £25 + VAT for processing notices relating to these matters. The applicable administration charge is set out in the Schedule of Charges below.

19. Schedule of charges

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the following charges are exclusive of VAT.

Damage administration fees

Damage below £250£45
Damage between £250 and £499£65
Damage of £500 or more£95

Other charges

Recovery / on-road assistance where the call-out is the hirer's fault£250
Replacement keysCost of replacement plus the applicable administration charge
Traffic / parking offence administration£25 per offence
Excess mileage£0.15 per mile
Unauthorised driver£1,000

DVS reserves the right to recover reasonable third-party costs incurred as a direct result of the hirer's breach of the rental agreement where permitted by law.

20. Complaints

DVS is committed to providing a high-quality service. If you are dissatisfied with our service, please contact us using the following details:

DVS will deal with complaints in accordance with its complaints procedure.

21. Rental period

The agreed rental period is shown on the Form and/or your reservation confirmation.

If you do not return the vehicle on time and have not obtained DVS's agreement to extend the rental, you will be in breach of this agreement. DVS may charge you for each day or part-day that the vehicle remains in your possession after the agreed return time at the applicable daily rate specified on the Form or otherwise agreed with you.

You may return the vehicle before the end of the agreed rental period, however no refunds will be given in partial or full. Unless otherwise agreed by DVS or required by law, prepaid rental charges are not refundable merely because a vehicle is returned early.

Part 2 — Further terms

22. Your contract with DVS

By signing the rental agreement, you agree to and accept these Terms together with the Form and, where applicable, the Letter.

Please read the agreement carefully before signing it. If there is anything you do not understand, you should ask a member of DVS staff for an explanation before entering into the rental agreement.

23. Rental period and extensions

You will have the vehicle for the period shown in the rental agreement. DVS may agree to extend the rental period. Unless DVS expressly agrees to a Long Term Rental, the total rental period will not exceed 90 days.

If you do not return the vehicle on time, DVS may charge you for every day or part-day during which the vehicle remains in your possession after the agreed return time.

If you materially breach this agreement, DVS may require you to return the vehicle before the originally agreed return date and time. DVS may give you written notice personally or send it to the address or contact details supplied on the Form.

Where permitted by law, once notice requiring return of the vehicle has taken effect, you will no longer have DVS's permission to possess or use the vehicle. DVS may then take reasonable lawful steps to recover its vehicle. If DVS reasonably believes that you have supplied materially false or fraudulent information, DVS may take reasonable lawful steps to recover the vehicle.

If DVS agrees a Long Term Rental with you, the terms contained in the applicable Letter will form part of the contract together with these Terms and the Form.

24. Your responsibilities

You must:

  • Inspect the vehicle and any accessories supplied before taking possession of the vehicle. If you are dissatisfied with the vehicle or believe its condition differs from the pre-rental inspection report, you must notify DVS before leaving the rental location.
  • Take reasonable care of the vehicle, accessories, keys and any other locking or security devices supplied.
  • Lock the vehicle whenever it is unattended and use any security equipment fitted to or supplied with the vehicle.
  • Take reasonable steps to protect the vehicle against weather or environmental conditions which may cause damage.
  • Use the correct fuel, oils and other fluids.
  • Subject to the insurance and damage-protection provisions in these Terms, be responsible for qualifying damage to the vehicle, including damage caused by collisions with low bridges, height restrictions, tree branches or similar objects.
  • Pay DVS's reasonable costs of restoring the vehicle to the condition recorded on the pre-rental inspection report where you are responsible for the damage. This may include damage inside or outside the vehicle, reasonable specialist cleaning costs and the replacement of missing or damaged accessories.
  • Not sell, rent, dispose of or attempt to transfer ownership of the vehicle or any part of it.
  • Not allow anyone to work on or repair the vehicle without DVS's prior permission, except where emergency action is reasonably necessary to protect persons or property. Where DVS authorises work, reimbursement will normally require a valid receipt.
  • Notify DVS as soon as you become aware of a fault with the vehicle or if the vehicle is stolen or involved in an accident.
  • Report accidents in accordance with the accident-reporting provisions below.
  • If DVS delivers the vehicle to an address nominated by you, take responsibility for the vehicle from the time it is checked out on hire to you.
  • Return the vehicle to the location or rental branch agreed with DVS unless DVS has agreed to collect it.
  • Return the vehicle during the agreed opening hours or at another time expressly agreed by DVS.
  • Permit DVS staff to inspect the vehicle on return. DVS may need to clean the vehicle before its condition can be fully inspected.
  • Accept that out-of-hours returns are made at the hirer's risk and that the vehicle remains on hire until it has been checked in by an authorised member of the DVS team.
  • Not carry any object or substance which, because of its nature, condition or smell, may damage the vehicle or materially delay DVS from renting or selling it.

Accident notification

You must inform DVS of an accident as soon as reasonably possible and, in any event, within 24 hours. Any incident involving a third-party vehicle, property, animal or pedestrian must also be reported in writing to hire@dvsmotorgroup.co.uk within 24 hours.

Failure to comply with accident-reporting obligations may affect the insurance or damage protection available to you and may result in additional charges where permitted by law and under the applicable insurance terms.

25. DVS's responsibilities

DVS will maintain its rental vehicles to at least the manufacturer's recommended standards, subject to normal servicing requirements. At the beginning of the rental period, the vehicle will be roadworthy and suitable for its intended ordinary use.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts DVS's liability where doing so would be unlawful. DVS is responsible for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence where liability cannot lawfully be excluded. DVS may also be responsible for reasonably foreseeable loss resulting directly from DVS's breach of this agreement.

Subject to applicable law, DVS is not responsible for losses which were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was entered into, including indirect business losses such as loss of profits or loss of opportunity where such exclusions are legally permitted.

26. Personal property

DVS is only responsible for loss of or damage to personal property left in the vehicle where DVS is legally responsible for that loss or damage. You are responsible for removing your belongings from the vehicle when the rental ends.

DVS is not responsible for items left in the vehicle except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded. If items are found, DVS may agree to hold them for collection for a reasonable period and may charge reasonable storage or postage costs.

27. Conditions for using the vehicle

Only the following persons may drive the vehicle:

  • the main hirer;
  • a driver named and authorised on the Form; or
  • another person who has received DVS's prior written authorisation.

Every driver must hold a full and valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle. An unauthorised-driver charge may apply as stated in the Schedule of Charges. Payment of that charge does not provide insurance cover to the unauthorised driver or remove responsibility for losses suffered by DVS or third parties.

You must not use, or allow another person to use, the vehicle:

  • For an illegal purpose or in a manner likely to cause unlawful nuisance.
  • To carry passengers for payment, except where expressly permitted and all necessary licences are held.
  • For driving instruction.
  • To tow or push another vehicle, trailer or object without DVS's prior written permission.
  • For racing, pace-making, speed testing, reliability testing or competition.
  • Off-road or on roads unsuitable for the vehicle.
  • While the driver is impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs or any other substance which makes driving unlawful or unsafe.
  • Outside the United Kingdom without DVS's prior written permission and any required Vehicle on Hire Certificate or other documentation.
  • While loaded beyond the manufacturer's permitted maximum weight.
  • To carry an unsecured load.
  • To carry more passengers than the vehicle is legally designed to carry.
  • Where an operator's licence is legally required for the use being undertaken and the appropriate licence is not held.

28. Charges

You are responsible for paying:

  • The rental charge and any other charges calculated in accordance with this agreement.
  • Charges for loss or damage resulting from a breach of your responsibilities under these Terms, subject to applicable insurance, damage protection and law.
  • Refuelling charges where the vehicle is not returned with the agreed quantity of fuel.
  • Congestion charges, tolls, road-traffic penalties, parking charges and other charges or offences involving the rental vehicle during your period of responsibility, together with DVS's reasonable administration charges.
  • The reasonable cost of repairing damage which was not recorded at the beginning of the rental and for which you are responsible under these Terms.
  • Subject to applicable insurance and damage protection, the reasonable cost of replacing the vehicle if it is stolen or written off and you are liable for that loss.
  • Applicable administration charges for handling damage, loss or insurance claims.

Where DVS reasonably determines that damage was caused by deliberate misuse or serious negligence, DVS may seek to recover the reasonable cost of the damage to the extent permitted by the rental agreement, applicable insurance arrangements and law. Customer-induced faults, including call-outs arising from incorrect use of the vehicle, may result in additional reasonable charges.

Payment authorisation

You authorise us to be able to take funds from any of your given payment credit or debit cards without you being present. This is for any costs incurred in relation to your hire.

Loss of income

Where legally recoverable and not otherwise recovered under DVS's applicable insurance or damage-protection arrangements, DVS may charge for actual loss of rental income where a vehicle cannot be rented because of circumstances for which you are responsible, including:

  • damage requiring repair;
  • lost or unavailable keys;
  • the vehicle being written off; or
  • theft while DVS awaits settlement.

Any loss-of-income charge will be calculated using the applicable published daily or hourly rental rate and will not exceed 30 days. DVS will take reasonable steps to minimise its loss.

You will also be responsible, where applicable, for:

  • reasonable recovery charges arising where DVSA, HMRC, the police or another public authority or its agent has seized the vehicle;
  • applicable delivery and collection charges;
  • additional-driver charges;
  • late-return charges;
  • accessory rental charges;
  • reasonable costs arising from the loss of or damage to additional equipment; and
  • any other charge expressly agreed in the rental agreement.

Interest

Where legally permitted, DVS may charge interest on overdue sums at a rate of 4% per annum above the base lending rate published by Barclays Bank, calculated for the period during which payment remains overdue.

You remain responsible to DVS for charges due under the rental agreement even where you have arranged for another person or organisation to pay those charges on your behalf.

29. Motor insurance and damage protection

DVS has a legal obligation to ensure that appropriate third-party motor insurance is in place. Details of the applicable insurance and damage-protection arrangements, including exclusions and limitations, will be provided in the rental documentation or made available by DVS.

Third-party insurance provides cover for qualifying claims arising where the use of the vehicle causes injury, death or damage to third-party property, subject to the applicable policy. Any monetary limits applicable to third-party property cover will be those specified in the applicable insurance policy and required by law.

Where you purchase and accept an applicable Excess Reduction or other damage-protection product, qualifying liability for damage to the DVS vehicle may be reduced to the responsibility amount shown in the rental agreement. The applicable responsibility amount applies to each separate incident unless expressly stated otherwise.

Damage-protection products are subject to the exclusions and restrictions stated in these Terms and/or the rental documentation.

30. Your own insurance

Where expressly agreed by DVS and recorded on the rental Form, you may arrange your own motor insurance covering your legal responsibility for the vehicle throughout the entire rental period. You must provide satisfactory evidence that the insurance is valid.

DVS reserves the right to approve:

  • the amount and extent of cover;
  • the type of policy; and
  • the insurer.

DVS must be satisfied with the policy terms and cover. You must not materially alter or cancel the insurance during the rental period. DVS may require your insurer to note DVS's ownership or financial interest in the vehicle.

If the vehicle is damaged, lost or stolen, DVS may deal directly with your insurer concerning settlement of the claim where authorised to do so. Where appropriate and legally permitted, this may include taking or defending proceedings relating to the insured loss.

If your insurance fails to provide the agreed cover, you may remain responsible for losses and costs for which you are legally liable.

31. Accidents and theft

If you are involved in an accident, you must not admit liability or make any promise of payment on behalf of DVS or its insurer. You should provide an accurate description of the circumstances when requested by DVS, its insurer or the police.

You should obtain, where reasonably possible:

  • names and addresses of everyone involved;
  • registration numbers and insurance details;
  • names and addresses of witnesses; and
  • photographs or other relevant evidence.

You must:

  • Make sure the vehicle is secure where it is safe to do so.
  • Contact the police where required by law, where anyone is injured, or where there is a material disagreement concerning the circumstances.
  • Contact DVS as soon as possible by telephone and email at hire@dvsmotorgroup.co.uk. Complete DVS's accident report form when requested.
  • Forward to DVS any correspondence, notices or legal documents relating to the accident, theft or loss.
  • Cooperate reasonably with DVS and its insurers in dealing with any claim or legal proceedings.

Theft

If the vehicle is stolen, you must:

  • notify DVS as soon as possible;
  • report the theft to the police as soon as reasonably possible;
  • obtain and provide the applicable crime reference number;
  • confirm the circumstances in writing;
  • return all vehicle keys and security devices in your possession; and
  • reasonably cooperate with DVS and its insurer.

Failure to report

An accident or other reportable incident must be reported within 24 hours. Failure to comply with the reporting requirements may affect the damage protection or excess applicable to the incident and may result in additional charges where permitted by law and the applicable insurance terms.

32. Data protection

DVS will process personal information relating to renters and drivers in connection with vehicle rental, administration of the rental agreement, fraud prevention, asset protection, payment and credit control, legal and regulatory obligations and other legitimate business purposes.

Personal information may, where lawful and necessary, be disclosed to organisations including:

  • insurers and insurance intermediaries;
  • credit-reference and fraud-prevention agencies;
  • debt-collection agencies;
  • the police and other law-enforcement authorities;
  • DVLA, DVSA and other public authorities;
  • parking, toll and traffic-enforcement organisations;
  • professional advisers and service providers; and
  • relevant vehicle-rental industry organisations.

DVS will process personal data in accordance with applicable UK data-protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Further information about how DVS collects, uses, stores and shares personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

33. Ending the agreement

DVS may end the agreement where legally entitled to do so, including where you materially breach its terms or where continuing the rental would expose DVS, its vehicle or another person to an unacceptable legal or financial risk.

Where the renter is a company or other business entity, DVS may also terminate the agreement in circumstances including insolvency, liquidation or other relevant insolvency proceedings, subject to applicable law.

Ending the agreement does not affect DVS's right to recover amounts already due or losses which it is legally entitled to recover. Where the agreement has been validly terminated and the vehicle has not been returned, DVS may take reasonable and lawful steps to repossess the vehicle and may recover reasonable costs of doing so where the renter is responsible for those costs.

34. Complaints and dispute resolution

DVS aims to resolve complaints and disagreements fairly. Customers should first contact DVS using the complaints procedure and allow DVS a reasonable opportunity to investigate and respond.

If DVS is a member of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) and the dispute is eligible, unresolved complaints may be capable of referral to the BVRLA's applicable dispute-resolution or conciliation service.

35. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory rights a consumer may have concerning jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove or restrict any statutory rights which cannot lawfully be excluded.

These Terms, together with the Form and, where applicable, the Letter, contain the terms agreed between DVS and the renter concerning the rental and replace previous representations or agreements concerning the same rental to the extent legally permitted.

If you require these Terms in an accessible format, please contact hire@dvsmotorgroup.co.uk before making a booking where possible.
